Insurgency vs day of infamy12/15/2023 I know what you mean, I downloaded the "brutal deaths" and "blood" mod and it adds to the whole gruesome, realistic feeling of ww2. That experience was so amazing I had to share it. When I was reloading I had a huge grin on my face and whispered to myself "let them burn". Setting up with a thompson as airborne and waiting for Germans to cross the chokehold in which I set up an ambush, finally after a while I see a group running eager to fire their first time on the battlefield after respawning so without any thought I start spraying with little control, I see an explosion and multiple Germans running around like headless chickens, what appeared to have happened was I shot the flamethrowers tanks and set multiple Germans on fire with that explosion. Especially when this game is capable of giving you intense movie like experience, something I had yesterday = For the past 2 hours I enjoyed it far more than insurgency, feels much better. Realism+Arcade=DoI Sounds just like what I'm looking for, I miss the old warfare games, and very tired of the mech/exo-suit ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ thats been piling up. Really, the most simple way of putting it is that DoI is a mixture of Insurgency and the original DoD mod. destructible wall areas (to create more flanking options), improved mechanics (like using the tab map to click a specific person you want to spectate/better spawn protection), a more fleshed out class system (where classes actually mean something and your weapons are more constricted to influence that), maps (some heavily influenced by DoD at Valves allowance), veteran weapon unlocks (cosmetic additions like worn looking weapons and cloth wraps), Given that Insurgency itself started life as a free Half-Life 2 mod, this is all pretty cool.DoI is different from Insurgency in that DoI has its own distinct feeling, having more to do with teamwork at a faster pace due to the greater variety of weapons and features in-game. New World Interactive are hoping it'll liven up the wider Insurgency modding community too. Here, this livestream talked about plans, and this Trello board shows Infamy stuff in the works. One map made by a player has already been added to the core package too.ĭay of Infamy may be inspired by Day of Defeat, but the development inspiration comes from Epic and the new Unreal Tournament. Folks who were making their own WW2 mod, Mud & Blood, have already teamed up to merge their work into Infamy. The idea is that all and sundry are invited to make whatever they want, and New World Interactive are overseeing it like a kindly creator. If you've got Insurgency installed, head on over to the Steam Workshop to download the whole package. Infamy required a beta client when it first launched in mid-January, but as of a few days ago it's compatible with the game's main branch for everyone to easily play. Yes, obviously it is inspired by Day of Defeat. Insurgency developers New World Interactive built the foundations of mod Day of Infamy themselves but have opened it up to players to expand it. Modern-day military FPS Insurgency now has a World War 2 military FPS lurking inside it, like a matryoshka doll made from bullets.
